Man airlifted to hospital after jet ski collision in Wigtown Bay

A man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a collision between two jet skis in Dumfries and Galloway.

Emergency services were called to Wigtown Bay, near Gatehouse of Fleet, at about 17:00 on Saturday.

Isle of Whithorn and Kirkcudbright Coastguard Rescue Teams and an inshore lifeboat from Kirkcudbright RNLI were also sent to the scene.

The 42-year-old was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow by air ambulance for treatment.

A police spokesperson said inquiries were ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
