A man has admitted killing a woman whose body was found at her home in Swansea.

Matthew Battenbough, 33, of no fixed address, appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to the murder of 47-year-old Leanne Williams.

Her body was found by police officers at her house on Gomer Road in the Townhill area of the city on 27 February.

Battenbough was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 26 September.

A post-mortem previously identified Ms Williams as having “significant injuries” consistent with an assault.

In a statement, South Wales Police Det Insp David Butt said: “The news of Leanne’s death was devastating to her family and to the wider communities of Townhill and Swansea.

“Leanne’s family is being supported by specially trained officers.

“We hope that Matthew Battenbough’s guilty plea will offer them some relief following this traumatic time.”
