Man, 62, dies after A90 crash near Laurencekirk in Aberdeenshire

A man has died after a crash on the A90 in Aberdeenshire, police have said.

Emergency services were called to the A90 near Laurencekirk at about 10:20 on Wednesday after the two-vehicle accident.

The 62-year-old male passenger of a van involved was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 43-year-old male driver of the van was flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance. The 52-year-old driver of a lorry involved was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment.

The road was closed for about 12 hours while investigations were carried out.

Sgt David Cooper of Police Scotland said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this extremely difficult time.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash and who have not already spoken to officers.

“I would also ask drivers to please check your dash-cams and if you have any footage that could help with our investigation, to contact officers.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service said it dispatched two ambulances, three special operations response teams, a trauma team and the air ambulance to the scene.
