Man, 61, dies after falling from canoe into Highlands river

A man has died after falling out of his canoe into a river in the Highlands.

The 61-year-old got into difficulty on the River Oich, near Jenkins Park at Fort Augustus on Tuesday at about 14:40.

He was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police Scotland say there are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
