Man, 52, dies after restraining incident at Torpoint Co-op shop

A man has died in hospital after suffering injuries while being restrained in a Cornish shop by another customer.

The 52-year-old man was involved in a disturbance at the Co-op food store in Fore Street, Torpoint, on Wednesday at 16:45 BST.

The force said the man, from Torpoint, became unresponsive at the scene and died in Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital on Saturday.

A man in his 40s from the Millbrook area had been arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed until 1 November pending further inquiries, Devon and Cornwall Police said.
