Malachi Fagan-Walcott: York City accept bid from Hearts

York City have accepted a seven-figure bid for defender Malachi Fagan-Walcott from Heart of Midlothian, BBC Radio York has confirmed.

The 24-year-old centre-half is yet to agree personal terms with the Scottish Premiership runners-up but, if the transfer goes through, it would be a club record sale.

York City’s previous record was set in 1999 when Sheffield Wednesday paid £950,000 for Richard Cresswell.

Fagan-Walcott began his career at Tottenham Hotspur and had loan spells at Dundee and Dunfermline Athletic.

He moved to York City on loan in 2024 before signing a permanent deal in January 2025.

This season, he has made 37 appearances for the National League champions, scoring eight goals.

Frankie Kent and Lewis Neilson have been released by Hearts while fellow centre-back Craig Halkett is facing up to nine months out as he recovers from a ruptured Achilles and a torn calf muscle.

Lincoln City defender MJ Kamson-Kamara has agreed a move to the Edinburgh club for next season, along with Falkirk winger Calvin Miller, St Johnstone forward Josh McPake and Versailles midfielder Tom Renaud.
