Work to restore the war memorials is due to begin on Monday and is expected to take about three months to complete.
The restoration programme will include specialist stone repointing, conservation of bronze features, cleaning, painting, landscaping improvements and enhanced accessibility measures designed to make the memorials more accessible to all members of the community.
In addition to the physical restoration works, the project includes a cross-community outreach programme involving local schools, community groups and organisations from across the district.
The initiative, delivered by Rural Area Partnership in Derry (RAPID), the North West Cultural Partnership and Creggan Enterprises, will encourage participants to explore the historical significance of the memorials, examine shared heritage and engage in discussions around remembrance, peace and reconciliation.
