Super League’s Magic Weekend will return to Everton FC’s Hill Dickinson Stadium in 2027.

A record-breaking attendance of 82,925 – the biggest crowd in the event’s history – watched the seven games over the two days of action this weekend.

Next year’s showpiece will take place on 1 and 2 May.

“We are absolutely delighted to be returning next year,” Rhodri Jones, managing director of RL commercial, said.

“The date has changed, owing to the stadium’s availability, however we are confident Magic Weekend 2027 will be even bigger and better again.”

Across the weekend, 77,442 attended the six matches played at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, while a further 5,483 were at Castres, where Toulouse Olympique and Catalans Dragons played out French Magic.

That combined attendance smashed the previous Magic Weekend record of 68,276 set at Newcastle’s St James’ Park in 2016.

Sunday’s crowd of 42,903 at Everton was also Magic’s biggest single-day attendance, eclipsing the 40,871 that attended at Newcastle in 2015.
