Maddy Grant: Canada international pulls out of Exeter move

Canada international Maddy Grant has opted not to join Exeter for the forthcoming Premiership Women’s Rugby season.

The 24-year-old had agreed to move to Sandy Park in June, having previously played for Harlequins.

But the club said Grant – who featured at the last World Cup and played in Canada’s semi-final loss to England – was remaining in her homeland for “personal reasons”.

“We respect Maddy’s decision and wish her all the best,” newly appointed Exeter head coach Steve Salvin told the club website.

“We were very excited about her joining us but also understand when a player just needs a bit of time out.

“We all wish Maddy well and hope we see her back on a rugby field very soon.”
