M6 closed southbound after lorry fire

The M6 has been closed southbound after a fire that started in a lorry spread across the carriageway.

National Highways said the road was closed between junction 4 at the M6 Toll and junction 3 at Bedworth shortly before 09:00 BST on Thursday due to blaze.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Coleshill, Bedworth, Nuneaton and Bickenhill were sent to the scene.

The road remains closed as of 13:30 BST while recovery and clear-up work takes place, National Highways said.
