Lurgan: Man held after children threatened with knife released

A 59-year-old man arrested after children were threatened with a knife in a County Armagh park has been released on bail.

The incident at a Lurgan park, which police described as “terrifying”, was reported at about 19:00 BST on Thursday evening.

A man was arrested on suspicion of two counts of common assault and possession of an article with a blade. Police say he has been released on bail to allow for further enquiries.

Youth workers who intervened at Lord Lurgan Memorial Park had been praised for their actions.
