A man who knocked his partner out twice with a punch followed by a chokehold, has been jailed for six months.
Londonderry Magistrates’ Court was told on Friday that Tyrone McLaughlin, of Carrickreagh Gardens in the city, attacked the woman in August 2023 after a verbal disagreement.
The 31-year-old was also ordered to pay her £500 in compensation after pleading guilty to assault and non-fatal strangulation.
Deputy District Judge John Rea said a jail sentence was required as the offences were “among the most serious before the Magistrates’ Court.
