London medieval tower preserved during 36-storey skyscraper build

In the heart of the City of London, the medieval Tower of All Hallows Staining is now propped up on stilts as work continues beneath it on the 36-storey Fifty Fenchurch development.

First built in 1320, the tower is all that remains of a church that was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666. The Grade I listed structure is being preserved and integrated into the project.

A striking example of how the city’s ever-evolving skyline makes space for its history.
