The father of a Lockerbie bombing victim, has said he is relieved and delighted to be played by Colin Firth in a new TV drama.

Dr Jim Swire’s daughter, Flora, was one of 270 people killed in the 1988 bombing over the Dumfries and Galloway town. He has been a vocal campaigner for justice ever since.

He described Firth, who visited his home, as a “lovely” and “ordinary” man.

Dr Swire said that he “felt a surge of relief” when he discovered Firth would portray him.

“He could not have delighted us more,” he added.
