Leicester City players told Copenhagen behaviour was unacceptable, says Ben Dawson

Leicester players have been told their behaviour at their Christmas party in Copenhagen was “unacceptable” but have moved on from the incident, says caretaker manager Ben Dawson.

The players travelled to Denmark on Saturday following the 2-1 defeat by Chelsea and boss Steve Cooper was sacked 24 hours later.

Video, which has not been verified by BBC Sport, emerged of the squad partying in a Copenhagen club with a sign reading “Enzo, I miss you” – referencing former manager Enzo Maresca – nearby.

Dawson, who will be in charge for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Brentford with Ruud van Nistelrooy’s appointment expected soon, confirmed the squad had been spoken to.

“They’ve had the key message from the club that what’s gone on was not acceptable and we need to move on,” he said.

“That was it. All eyes have then been focused on putting in a performance and training well to get a result.

“Every player needs some time off. The time off at that time was scheduled, the players were entitled to do what they want. The particular issue has been dealt with quickly internally and we’ve moved on from it.”

Leicester are 18th in the Premier League, one point above the relegation zone.
