Morgan Gannon will leave Leeds Rhinos at the end of the season after rejecting a new contract from the club.

The 21-year-old back-row forward was offered a “substantial” new deal, but he has turned it down as he intends to move to the NRL.

Gannon has made 59 appearances for Leeds since his debut in 2021 including all eight Super League games this year.

“We are extremely disappointed to be losing a young player who the club has put so much time and effort into developing,” said the Rhinos’ sporting director Ian Blease.

“However, we do understand the lure of the NRL, especially for young players and that is a significant challenge not just for the Rhinos but also Super League as a whole.”
