The Candystripes are in the unique position of hosting their first four fixtures at home and would have been hoping to take close to maximum points.

In late April, Derry City will play at least five ‘home’ fixtures at Celtic Park, home of Derry GAA, while a hybrid grass pitch is laid to replace the Brandywell’s 3G surface.

“We’re at home, we expect to win and we expect to win our home games against everybody,” added Lynch.

“That’s something we’re definitely talking about a lot internally. We didn’t make this place a fortress last year. I think that’s something we have to make sure happens this year.

“Obviously, the change in the pitch, we hope and pray it will make a massive difference to us, nobody really likes playing on that pitch.

“I know the away teams talk about it. But we have too many good footballers to be playing on that type of pitch. It is what it is, but it’s something we’re definitely looking forward to.

“As I’ve said, I think the fans have to take great credit in the first two games. What they’ve done and how they’ve got behind us has made a massive difference. Long may that continue.”
