Hampshire seam bowler Kyle Abbott has signed a one-year extension until 2026.

The 38-year-old former South Africa international has 464 wickets in 113 first-class matches for Hampshire at an average of 20.05.

He has claimed 42 wickets in 19 matches at an average of 21.52 in the County Championship this season.

“Hampshire gave me a huge opportunity to start over again and contribute to a winning cause, trying to win a championship and get the club into a better place,” he told the club’s website, external.

“I’m proud to have achieved that. It’s taken a lot of hard work from not only myself, but everyone around me.

“There’s still things I’d like to achieve at the club, a One Day [Cup] trophy in particular after losing out in the final at Lord’s in 2019. I feel like I’ve got some unfinished business there.”
