Kirsty Smith: Scotland defender extends West Ham contract

Scotland full-back Kirsty Smith has extended her stay with Women’s Super League side West Ham.

Smith, 30, joined the Irons from Manchester United in 2022 and has made 54 appearances for the club across the last two seasons.

She is the third West Ham player to have extended their contract this summer, following Iceland midfielder Dagny Brynjarsdottir and France forward Viviane Asseyi.

West Ham – who finished 11th last season – did not disclose the length of Smith’s new deal, but manager Rehanne Skinner said she was “delighted” to have kept one of her “most consistent players”.

“She gives us a different dynamic to our play and provides us with great attacking options from defensive positions,” Skinner told the West Ham website.
