Key games in SWPL title race live on BBC Scotland

Two crucial matches in the Scottish Women’s Premier League title race will be broadcast live on the BBC Scotland channel.

The first match in the Friday night slot is between defending champions Celtic and Heart of Midlothian on 24 January (19:30), before Elena Sadiku’s side travel to league-leaders Glasgow City on 14 February (19:30).

Both games will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app.

“We’re delighted we’ll be broadcasting live these SWPL games on BBC Scotland, adding to our current regular coverage of the league across platforms, including our weekly highlights programme which is also on the channel,” BBC Scotland’s head of commissioning Louise Thornton said.

“The matches are great additions to our Friday night football slot which has become a firm favourite with audiences.”

City are five points clear of second-placed Rangers, with Hearts a point further back in third.

Celtic sit fifth, nine points behind City, but have two games in hand after their Champions League commitments in the first half of the season.
