Arsenal expect Kai Havertz to play a part in their title run-in despite the forward suffering a muscular injury against Newcastle.

The 26-year-old German limped off in the first half of the victory over Eddie Howe’s team on Saturday with an upper leg issue.

Arsenal are not placing a definitive timescale on his recovery but expect Havertz to play some part in their final four Premier League games as they chase a first title since 2004.

Mikel Arteta’s side are also in the Champions League semi-finals and face Atletico Madrid in the first leg on Wednesday.

Havertz has endured an injury disrupted season, missing six months due to a knee issue.

Since returning in January, he has scored five goals in 19 appearances.
