Josh Taylor still has ambitions to become a two-time world champion as he enters the “final chapter” of his career.
The former undisputed light-welterweight world champion is coming off back-to-back defeats to Teofimo Lopez and Jack Catterall.
But the Scot, now a free agent after the expiry of his contract with promotor Bob Arum’s Top Rank, insists he still has big fights to come.
“I’m going to fish the market and seeing what promoters are out there and what fights are for me,” the 33-year-old told BBC Sport Scotland on a visit to his former school, Preston Lodge High.
“There’s plenty options out there for me now. I’m free to do as I please and it opens up a lot more options, so it’s an exciting period.”
Taylor took time off following May’s loss to Catterall and says he would relish a third bout with the Chorley fighter to settle their long-standing rivalry.
“I’d like to sort of right that decision and fight him again,” said Taylor, who defeated the Englishman in their controversial first encounter in Glasgow in 2022.
“But if not, I’m in a great place now to get a comeback fight. It would be nice to get back to winning ways, then get back to chasing titles and become a two-time world champion, which is still a big goal of mine.”
