St Helens will be without second rower Joe Batchelor for two months after he sustained a hamstring injury against Wigan Warriors.

Batchelor left the field during the 24-14 defeat by the Cherry and Whites on Good Friday.

“We’ve had that scanned and it’s looking like it’s going to be nearer to an eight-week injury,” head coach Paul Wellens told BBC Radio Merseyside.

“That’s a blow for Joe first and foremost but a blow for us as a team as well.

“We’re going to have to shuffle things round a little bit, but that’s the nature of the game.”
