Jay Slater: Church opens doors to support community

A church in Jay Slater’s home town of Oswaldtwistle is to open its doors later to support the community after a body was found in Tenerife on Monday.

The 19-year-old’s family are awaiting news of a post-mortem examination following the discovery of a body near the last known location of the missing British teenager’s mobile phone.

Spanish police said that “all evidence” pointed to the body being that of the missing teenager, who was last seen on 17 June.

Speaking about the support being extended to Mr Slater’s family, Rev Matt Smith from West End Methodist Church in Oswaldtwistle said: “Our thoughts and our prayers are with them. We’re here and supporting them for when they need us.”
