The mother of an Israeli hostage freed from Hamas captivity and brought to Israel spoke with him via video call for the first time in two years.

Einav Zangauker spoke to her son Matan as he was in Gaza, on his way to being handed over to Israel.

“Thank God the war is over. The war is over,” she told him in Hebrew.

Hamas released seven hostages on Monday, the first group to be freed as part of a ceasefire that paused two years of war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
