With up to 40 daily races for about 500 boats, it is billed as the largest sailing regatta of its kind in the world.

The 5,000 competitors include Olympic and world-class professionals as well as weekend sailors.

As many as 60,000 people are expected throughout the week to watch the sailing and enjoy the land-based entertainment.
