An investigation has been launched after a light aircraft was found crashed in a field in Staffordshire.
A passerby spotted the empty plane with a broken wing and tail assembly in a field in Cotes Heath, near Stone, on Friday and reported it to police.
A spokesperson for the Air Accidents Investigation Branch said: “An accident involving a light aircraft was reported to the AAIB on 8 August.
“An investigation has been launched, and we have begun making enquiries.”
A police spokesperson said officers were called at 13:00 BST on Friday to Mill Meece Marsh, Cotes Heath, following reports of the light aircraft in a field.
The plane had to make a emergency landing, they said, and no injuries were reported.
They added officers had talked with the landowner about removing the aircraft.
