Investigation after human bones found in Alford garden

The remains of a human jawbone have been found in a garden in a Lincolnshire town, prompting an investigation.

Lincolnshire Police said it was called to a property on East Street, Alford, on Thursday, with the remains found alongside a number of animal bones.

They were sent for forensic testing to determine their age, the force said, with initial investigations of historical records suggesting the address may be close to the area’s medieval core and a Bronze Age burial site.

Officers asked the public not to speculate about the discovery on social media during the investigation.
