‘Inoperable’ Eva Tennent gets spinal surgery after review

Meanwhile, other children who were under the care of Mr Adams are still waiting to find out what happens next.

Ethan Dawson, 12, was due to be operated on by Mr Adams on 28 March but his surgery was cancelled with four days notice.

Ethan, from Uddingston, has muscular dystrophy and scoliosis, and his father Thomas fears further delays could cause his condition to deteriorate.

Mr Dawson said they can see the curvature of their son’s spine getting worse, and are especially concerned because it has been nearly a year since his last scan.

“We have no idea how much it’s progressed,” he said.

Mr Dawson said they have received no communication from the health board, or a rescheduled date for surgery.

“I haven’t heard a thing,” he said. “I have tried to get through about 15 to 20 times to someone to discuss it for over a week now.”

Another young Scottish patient, 13-year-old Shaye Armour, from Greenock, was transferred to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where he is still awaiting specialist surgery.
