Ian Murray appointed as new Greenock Morton manager

Greenock Morton have appointed Ian Murray as their new manager, with the former Scotland defender signing an 18-month contract.

Murray replaces Dougie Imrie, who left Morton to take charge at fellow Championship club Raith Rovers in November.

The 44-year-old’s most recent management role was at Raith after previous spells with Dumbarton, St Mirren and Airdrieonians.

Gary Miller, who has been in interim charge of Morton in recent weeks, will stay at the club as Murray’s assistant.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be appointed manager of Greenock Morton,” Murray said.

“It’s a real honour to be given this opportunity at such a proud club, and I can’t wait to get started.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting the players, the staff, and of course the supporters, and getting to work as quickly as possible.

“There’s a lot to be excited about, and I’m eager to give everything I have to move the club forward together.”
