A 91-year-old piano player says he has enjoyed providing the soundtrack to 40 years’ worth of “proposals, engagements and affairs” in one of the Glasgow’s most beloved live music venues.

Bill Finlayson was a lorry driver for his family haulage firm around the city by day, before playing tunes from the 1920s, 30s and 40s in Baby Grand in the evening.

“I think it is amazing that I’ve got away with it for so long,” he told BBC Scotland.

The bar will be demolished to make way for a £250m development including new homes, student accommodation and a hotel.
