Hull ice hockey team plays on Howden flood water

An ice hockey team has been making the most of the recent cold snap by taking to the ice on frozen flood water.

George Lund is part of Hull Knights who usually play at Hull Ice Arena.

However, Mr Lund said he had seen a perfect opportunity when the dykes, near his home in Howden, burst their banks and flooded the fields.

He said the flooding and freezing temperatures had created a “perfect makeshift rink for a game of pond ice hockey”.

Mr Lund added: “It’s not very often you get to play in your back garden.”
