Hertfordshire Police officer finds man hiding under shopping bag

A man tried to evade arrest for shoplifting by hiding under a shopping bag, a police force said.

Hertfordshire Constabulary arrested the man in a property in St Albans after he was discovered underneath a duvet with his head concealed by a shopping bag.

The force said it had seen some “interesting” attempts to avoid detection over the years and “putting a bag over your head can now be added to the list”.

In 2024 Bedfordshire Police arrested a man who was hiding in the base of a sofa.
