Helicopter douses wildfire in north Wales

This is the moment a helicopter dropped water onto a blazing wildfire.

It is the first time this year that Natural Resource Wales’ deployed its helicopter, which can carry 1,200 litres of water, to the fire and rescue services.

It was dousing a blaze on the Berwyn mountains above Corwen, Denbighshire, on Friday afternoon.

The service said it had been responding to more than 20 wildfire incidents over Thursday and Friday across Conwy, Denbighshire, and Gwynedd.

Since Thursday, 113 grass fires have also been reported in mid and south Wales after a spell of dry and settled conditions across Wales.
