HBO Max Hikes Streaming Prices

The subscription increases just keep coming, and HBO Max is the latest streaming service to bump up the prices on its plans. Effective Tuesday, monthly and annual subscriptions are going up, Warner Bros. Discovery announced. New customers will be affected first.

The monthly cost of the ad-based Basic plan increases from $10 to $11, while the Standard ad-free plan jumps from $17 to $18.50 and Premium rises from $21 to $23. Annual subscriptions are also increasing, with Basic now at $110 (up $10), Standard now $185 (up $15) and Premium at $230 (up $20).

The prices take effect immediately for new HBO Max subscribers. If you’re an existing customer on a monthly plan, you will be “notified 30 days in advance” of your billing renewal date, and the new rates will hit your next bill on or before Nov. 20, the company said. Annual subscribers may get a little more leeway, as the prices will change during your next yearly renewal period, but you’ll receive notification 30 days beforehand.

The news comes the same day as the Disney streaming price increases take effect, bumping up the monthly rates for the HBO Max/Disney Plus/Hulu bundles. Warner Bros. last raised the price on the streamer in June 2024.
