Harry Byrne: Bristol Bears extend loan of Leinster fly-half

Bristol Bears have extended Harry Byrne’s loan from Leinster until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has made six appearances since joining the club at the turn of the year as injury cover for AJ MacGinty, scoring 36 points.

He initially joined on a three-month loan but that has now been extended until the end of the season, with the Bears second in the league and on course for a home semi-final.

Fly-half Byrne has four international caps for Ireland, playing twice in last year’s Six Nations title-winning campaign.

“Harry has been excellent for us on and off the field since arriving on loan and we’re pleased to keep hold of a player of his quality and experience for the remainder of the season,” director of rugby Pat Lam told the club’s website., external
