For thousands of people the Great North Run can be an emotional day, but for one couple it was extra special.
Sam Reiling, from Washington, proposed to his girlfriend Stephanie Palmer after completing the 13.1-mile route from Newcastle to South Shields.
They were both running for charities close to their own heart – Crohn’s & Colitis UK, Stroke Association UK and Andy’s Man Club.
Their families joined them at the finish line to share their special moment.
