The paternal grandmother of a two-year-old murdered by his grandparents has described their home as “like a cult”.
Ethan Ives-Griffiths was murdered by Michael Ives, 47, and Kerry Ives, 46, at their home in Garden City, Flintshire, in August 2021.
Kellie Shone said Michael Ives would threaten to kill his children and grandchildren to “control them through fear”.
“Michael threatened to run all of us over. So from that day on, I knew he wasn’t a nice person, and I kept my distance from him,” she said.
The couple will be sentenced for murder on Friday, along with Ethan’s mother, Shannon Ives, 28, who was found guilty of causing or allowing her son’s death, and child cruelty.
