Google I/O 2026 Will Kick Off May 19

Google I/O 2026 has official dates: The software showcase will take place on May 19 and 20 at the company’s Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California.

Unlike previous years, when Google hid the dates for its developer event behind puzzles that fans raced to solve, the company has listed them outright on its official I/O 2026 page. Or perhaps it was hidden at first, but people solved the brain teasers in record time.

In any case, the news is out. On May 19 and 20, we’ll see what Google has been cooking up to show attendees. Assuming no major changes to its programming, we can expect updates on Android 17, Chrome, XR, Google’s app suite, and other software. If it’s anything like last year’s event, the thing we’ll see most of is Gemini, the company’s generative AI that’s now thoroughly integrated into much of Google’s product lineup.

Like every other tech company, Google is shoving its AI into everything. The company integrated Gemini into Maps for hands-free navigation toward the end of last year, and already in 2026 has added an AI side panel into Chrome and worked it more deeply into Gmail with suggested replies and AI Overviews. We’re expecting Google to show off a lot more new applications for Gemini at I/O this year.

While the date has been revealed and no more puzzles need solving, fans can still enjoy the plethora of minigames Google has tucked into the I/O 2026 page — just click on the icons to fire one up.
