Former Lancashire head coach Glen Chapple will return to Northamptonshire for the 2026 county season.

The 51-year-old former pace bowler will work as senior assistant coach alongside boss Darren Lehmann, having spent the second half of the 2025 campaign at Wantage Road.

“Glen made an instant impact this year around the group, so we’re delighted to have him back again,” said Lehmann.

“His experience as a player and coach is great for the players to learn from and I’m looking forward to working together again.”

Chapple took 985 first-class wickets and 388 in limited-overs games during his playing career and appeared in a single one-day international for England in 2006.

He guided Lancashire to promotion from Division Two of the County Championship in 2019 and will be looking to help Northants do the same next summer.

“I thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone at Northamptonshire this year and I’m looking forward to working even harder alongside the coaching staff and players to achieve great things in 2026,” Chapple said.
