A series of “reactive inspections” are to be carried out on the Kingston Bridge on the M8 in Glasgow after concrete fell from it during bad weather.
Police were called to the bridge in the early hours of Monday morning when debris was reported to have fallen from the bridge, leading to the temporary closure of Paisley Road West.
Amey south-west, responsible for maintaining trunk roads on behalf of Transport Scotland, said the bridge was inspected by engineers ahead of the road reopening with further inspections planned to assess the condition of the bridge.
At almost 55-years old, the 270m (886ft) long, and 40m (131ft) bridge is a key part of Scotland’s transport network.
