Gerwyn Price: Welshman’s darts ambition amid farming, chip shop and rugby life

Following the crushing disappointment of his shock second round exit at the 2026 World Darts Championship, Price has made an encouraging start to the new campaign, having reached the semi-finals of the Bahrain Darts Masters, Saudi Arabia Darts Masters and the World Masters.

And while determined to build on his positive run, the former world champion always has an eye on the future.

Price, who owns his own takeaway in his south Wales hometown of Markham, is also hoping to enter the world of farming.

He recently purchased land in nearby Treharris and has suggested he will document his efforts in running the farm.

“I’m just putting in for some planning now, so fingers crossed I’ll be able to do what I want to do and get the farm the way I want it to be,” he explained.

“My brother works for me, so he’ll give me a hand and then the other family members will get stuck in and start milking some cows, I think.”

There is also the small matter of the upcoming Six Nations for Price to keep across.

The former rugby player – who played in the Welsh Premiership and briefly for United Rugby Championship side Glasgow Warriors – will be watching his beloved Wales take on England at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham on Saturday.

“We’re playing England this weekend and hopefully that’ll be a bit of a turnaround,” he said.

“For the boys there, they’ve got a new coach and fingers crossed they’ll play a little bit better than what they have for the last few seasons.

“I’m going with my mates, I’ve been invited to a box up there, so I’m going up on Saturday and then out to Germany for the Pro Tour on Monday.”

Price will play night one of the Premier League in Newcastle on Thursday and Players Championship 1 in Germany on Monday.
