Four people taken to hospital following separate crashes

Four people have been taken to hospital following two separate crashes in counties Tyrone and Londonderry.

The Old Loughry Road in Cookstown and part of the Windyhill Road outside Coleraine are closed, police have said.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland described both incidents as “serious”.

Diversions are in place in both locations and police have asked drivers to avoid the area in Coleraine.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) attended both incidents.

Three people were taken to hospital following the two-vehicle crash in Cookstown, which happened at about 16:50 GMT, NIAS said.

One person was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, a child was taken to the Royal Belfast Hospital for sick children and another person was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital.

The two-vehicle collision outside Coleraine happened at about 15:09 GMT.

NIAS dispatched a rapid response paramedic, two emergency crews and two ambulance officers to the incident.

Ambulance control also tasked the Charity Air Ambulance, with HEMS team on board, to attend.
