Four charged after assault on tourists in Belfast city centre

Four people have been charged following an assault on two tourists in Belfast city centre, which is being treated as a racially-motivated hate crime.

Police said the two men were walking in the Royal Avenue area of the city at about 23:00 GMT on Tuesday when they were attacked.

A 34-year-old man is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, attempted grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent and disorderly behaviour, while a 28-year-old man is charged with attempted GBH with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

A 38-year-old woman is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and a 22-year-old woman is charged with common assault and disorderly behaviour.
