A former music teacher at Erne Integrated College has been sentenced to four and a half months in jail for sexually assaulting a child.

David Baxter (65) of Killadeas Road, Lisnarick, denied sexually touching the child on a date between 1 February and 30 April 2018.

He was convicted following a two day contest at Enniskillen Magistrates Court.

On Wednesday District Judge Alana McSorely handed him a four-and-a-half-month prison sentence saying he had shown “no remorse”.

Judge McSorley told Baxter he had shown “a complete denial of culpability” and that he had “groomed a vulnerable child”.

“In some distorted sense of reality you consider yourself a victim.”

Baxter will also remain on the sex offender register for seven years.

He was released on £500 bail pending appeal.
