Forest fan, 101, watches first match in 30 years

A 101-year-old Nottingham Forest fan said she had a “fantastic” day attending her first match in more than 30 years.

Life-long Reds supporter Marjorie Graves was a special guest of the club at the City Ground on Sunday when she was invited to watch the East Midlands derby against Leicester City.

Marjorie, known as Marj, was given a tour of the ground, met the players and manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, and was presented with a personalised Forest shirt with 101 on the back.

She watched her beloved Forest held to a 2-2 draw, but the team still qualified for European football next season.

It was magnificent,” said Majorie, who has been a Forest supporter for 93 years.

“From start to finish, they [the club] really looked after me.

“All the players came up to talk to me and they were lovely.”

Marjorie, from Bulwell, added: “The only disappointment was that I would have liked to see a win.

“I told them [the players] Leicester would fight hard to spoil it and they did.

“I would also have liked to have gone out on the pitch with the children who were mascots but I’m probably a bit too old for that.”

The club stepped in after staff at the Fairway View Care Home, where Marjorie lives, posted on social media about what a dedicated supporter Marjorie had been.

“I want to say thank you to the club and my friends at the home,” Marjorie added.

“They have made me very happy.”
