Food delivery driver suffers burn injuries in attack

A fast food delivery driver has been treated in hospital for burn injuries to his hand after his vehicle was attacked.

His car was also destroyed in the incident in Creggan in Londonderry just after 02:00 BST on Tuesday.

Police said the man was leaving Rinmore Drive when he was flagged down by the attacker who lit an object and threw it into the car.

Det Insp Gingell described it a reckless attack and said it was “sheer fortune” the victim was able to able to get out of the car and make his way to safety.

The suspect is described as being about 5ft 6-7in tall and of medium build.

He was were wearing a dark hooded top and had his face covered.

Detectives have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
