Fleet’s ‘pants’ Christmas lights sparking joy

On social media, the Fleet lights – which the council said were meant to look like lanterns – were described as resembling knickers.

Despite that, many residents said they loved the lights and how their children enjoyed them.

One person added: “You have to dry your underwear somewhere”.

Rita Tong, the council’s executive officer, said: “Mostly, people and organisations have made an effort to reach out and say they are appreciative that the Council puts on the lights.”
