First layout plan revealed for Scots Center Parcs near Hawick

Initial plans for the layout of the first Center Parcs holiday village in Scotland have been revealed.

The preliminary zoning proposals show how the scheme would fit into the landscape near Hawick in the Scottish Borders.

Center Parcs confirmed that it was not a final document and would be subject to change in the coming months.

If the project goes ahead the company has said it would represent an investment of up to £400m and create about 1,200 permanent jobs.

Among the key features in the zoning plan are:

• A long driveway off the A7 as the main access to the village
• Six designated zones where lodges could be situated
• Potential locations for key buildings for leisure, dining and other amenities
• Areas where heritage assets have been identified and no development is planned

It also includes plans for “environmental enhancements” and screening and privacy measures.

Chief executive Colin McKinlay said: “The unveiling of this zoning plan marks an important first step in bringing our vision for a Center Parcs village in the Scottish Borders to life.

“This early-stage plan provides a foundation for thoughtful development, ensuring that environmental, heritage, and community factors remain central to our approach.

“We are committed to listening to the local community as we refine our plans over the coming months, with the aim of submitting a formal planning application in the summer.”
