Wintry weather conditions and potential precipitation has pushed the 19th Annual Loop Ice Carnival back one week. The new date and time is Saturday, Jan. 31 from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
3. St. Louis County officials ready for ‘significant’ snow storm
Despite an “ominous” weather forecast that could bring up to a foot of snow to the region, St. Louis County officials said Friday they’re ready for a significant snow event this weekend. At a news conference Friday morning, St. Louis County Executive Sam Page and officials with the Department of Transportation and Public Works along with the Department of Human Services laid out the county’s plan of attack for the storm, which is expected to hit beginning Saturday morning.
4. St. Louis police say there is ‘no evidence’ officer spotted loose monkeys
Reports of the vervet monkeys began the second week of January, with dozens of photos and videos surfacing online. But at a press conference that week, city officials said they only had one verified sighting — and it came from a St. Louis Metropolitan Police officer. Now, St. Louis police say they don’t have any record of that. SLMPD spokesperson Mitch McCoy said upon hearing the announcement, his jaw dropped.

6. U.S. completes withdrawal from World Health Organization
The U.S. has finalized its withdrawal from the World Health Organization, one year after President Donald Trump announced America was ending its 78-year-old commitment, federal officials said Thursday.
On March 28, they’ll face the team that knocked St. Louis out of last year’s playoffs, the D.C. Defenders, who went on to win the UFL championship. The Defenders are led on the field by Jordan Ta’amu, the once-quarterback of the 2020 XFL Battlehawks.
